王肖珠与岭南大学图书馆

王肖珠女士(1910-1995)先后毕业于福州华南女子大学和燕京大学教育系,在岭南大学图书馆工作长达15年,1945-1948年间担任图书馆馆长,是该馆历史上第二位被正式任命的华人图书馆馆长。担任馆长期间,王肖珠主持岭南大学图书馆战后藏书的清点与追回工作,竭尽全力将图书馆因战争而产生的损失降至最低。1948年,王肖珠赴美国伊利诺大学图书馆学院攻读硕士学位,此后一直服务于美国图书馆界。论文从岭南大学档案入手,探究王肖珠在该校图书馆工作时期的史实,以及其为图书馆做出的贡献,以表达对其为岭南大学的长期竭诚服务,以及对她所选择的图书馆员职业的敬意。

Phyllis Chiu-Chu Wang (1910-1995) graduated from the Department of Education of Woman's College of South China and Yenching University, and then worked for Lingnan University Library for fifteen years. In 1945, she was appointed the Head Librarian and became the second Chinese Head Librarian in the history of Lingnan University. From 1945 to 1948, Miss Wang was in charge of stocktaking and recovering collections. She made great efforts to minimize the loss caused by the Second World War. In 1948, Miss Wang entered School of Library Science of University of Illinois, U. S. A for her Master’s degree. And after that she had always served in American library circle. This paper researches Miss Wang’s experience in Lingnan University Library and her contributions in honoring her long and dedicated service to the University and her chosen profession.
