A Brief Introduction to Environment Legislation in South Africa

南非政府为保护日益恶化的环境 ,近年来通过了一系列环境立法 ,运用法律手段保护生态环境 ,促进资源的可持续利用 ,并把环境立法与人权保护有机结合起来。其重要意义是宪法确定了环境权为一项基本人权 ,突出了对人权的保护。

In order to protect increasingly deteriorating environment, South African government has passed a series of environment legislation in recent years. The purposes are to protect ecological environment by utilizing the means of law, to promote the sustainable usage of natural resources, and to combine environment legislation with human rights protection organically. It's important significance lies in defining the environment right as one of basic human rights in the Constitution, and giving prominence to the protection of human rights.
