摘要
Purpose Choroidal detachment is a known complication of topical hypotensive agents when use d to treat eyes sensi-tized by prior surgery. We document t he abrupt develop-ment of an extensive choroidal detachment after initiation of dorzolamide therapy in a surgically untreated eye with pri-mary open-angle glaucoma.Design Observational case re-port.Methods A 76-year-old woman wi th primary open-angle glaucoma and no history o f ocular surgery de-veloped a choroidal detachment 12hours after initiation of therapy with dorzolamide eye drops.Choroidal detachment was diagnosed clinically and confir med by echography. Results Withdrawal of the drug and in itiation of corticos-teroid drops resulted in prompt reso lution of the choroidal detachment. Conclusions Choroidal detachment can occur in surgically untreated eyes after u se of a topical carbonic anhydrase inhibitor.
