Tentative Views on Fan Zhui's Thought on Constitutional Reform and Modernization

樊锥 ,清末维新派人物。湖南邵阳人 ,曾留学日本 ,与谭嗣同、唐才常等组织南学会 ,宣传变法维新 ,主张积极效法西洋 ,发展民族经济 ,倡导民权、议会 ,大兴教育 ,开启民智 ,培养人才 ,是近代第一个提出全面学习西方经济、政治文化教育的改良派人物 ,具有改革开放先驱者的积极意义。

Fan Zhui,borned in Shaoyang,Hunan province,is an important figure of the constitutional reform and modernization party at the end of the Qing Dynasty.He organized a progressive group named “Nan Xue Hui” with Tan Sitong and Tang Caichang,put forward many advanced views,such as learning from foreign culture,developing national economy,proposing civil rights and parliament,popularizing education,improving popular intelligence,cultivating talented people etc.Fan Zhui is the first person who posed the thought on emulating foreign culture all-sidedly in his times.
