杜十娘与茶花女 ,东西方两个不同类型的妓女形象 ,在从妓女生涯走向死亡这一点上具有共同的悲剧命运 ,但二者的性格内涵又表现出迥异。她们的悲剧既是社会悲剧 ,是男权文化对女性人格、尊严的残酷扼杀 ;又是性格悲剧 。

Du Shiniang and Margaret are different images of prostitute in eastern and western literature .They have similar tragedies on the point that they have the same experience of being a prostitute from struggle to death ,but they have different character.Du Shiniang and Margaret are both social and character tragedies because the culture of patriarchy throttles female’s personality and dignity and the heroines are in pursuit of a certain leading and rational value.
