20世纪30年代左翼电影在中国出现的原因:20年代电影业畸形发展的反拨;国难当头,民族危亡形势的激发;左翼文学运动的催化。左翼电影在严格的审查制度、法西斯式的暴力侵扰以及来自其他阶层电影人的理论冲击的合力“围剿”中艰难前行,始终坚持反帝反封建的创作方向,同时也促进了电影艺术自身的发展和进步,创造了中国电影史上的第一个高峰。其成就主要表现在:拓展了社会性的主题,深化了现实主义创作方法,探索了民族化的表现风格,发展了有声电影的技术和技巧。

The reasons that Chinese Left-wing films appeared in 1930s:Film making developed abnormally in 1920s;The Chinese nation was in a dangerous situation; The Left-wing literature grew vigorously. The Left-wing films met with great difficulties from many respects; the Kuomintangs rigid examinations, some literary and art workers opposition, etc. But Left-wing film-makers stock to advanced direction, breaking through obstructions, facilitating the Left-wing films progressiveness:expanding the social subjects, deepening realistic creative ways, exploring national style expression and improving filmmaking techniques. Those made the Chinese films reach the first peak.
