Yang Yu-lin and the 1911 Revolution

杨毓麟是辛亥革命时期杰出的资产阶级民主革命家、宣传家。他追随孙中山、黄兴奔走革命 ,以务实、勤勉、激进而著称于世。他力主“中央革命” ,多次图谋打入清廷内部 ,实行反戈一击 ;积极参与响应华兴会策动的长沙起义和在上海发动的鄂、宁起义 ,起义失败后 ,他又组织暗杀团 ,对清廷要员实施暗杀。他还是著名的《新湖南》一书的作者 ,先后担任过《游学译编》、《神州日报》、《民立报》等多种报刊的总主笔或撰稿人 ,撰写了大量社论和时评 ,“皆能言人所不敢言” ,为辛亥革命大造舆论。他不仅是战场上的英雄 ,而且不愧为舆论界的骄子。

Yang Yu lin was a famous bourgeois democratic revolutionist and propagator.He followed Sun Zhong shan and Huang Xing in the struggle against the feudal and imperial forces, and was famous for being pragmatic, diligent and radical.He insisted on central revolution, and many times, attempted to banish the government of Qing Dynasty. He participated vigorously in the Changsha Revolt and the revolts in Hubei and Nanjing led by the Huaxing Saciety. Losing the revolts, Yang Yu lin organized an assassinating group to assassinate important officials of the government. As the author of the New Hunan magazine and the editor in chief or main writer of Youxue Jaurnal of Translation, Shenzhou Daily, and Minli Newspaper, he wrote a large number of essays criticizing the unreasonable social existence and propagating the thought of capitalist democratic revolution.So he was not only a hero in the battlefield, but also an outstanding figure in the mediacircle.
