This paper attempts to present a comp rehensive summarization and unders tanding of information extraction,including its meaning and definition,its tech nical goals,status and relevant backgrounds,its major technologic al contents as well as engineering di fficulties,from which correct orientation and practical strategies as a linguistic applied technology would possibly suggested.
