丁伟鸣说起话来很生动,笑的时候自然流露出一种纯净。虽然我们说好采访的主题是谈他的创作,但他林林总总地谈了自己生活的许多方面,然而这些生活的层面却无一不与他的创作相关。丁伟鸣在上海工艺美术博物馆(原上海工艺美术研究所)工作了27年,与石头打了30年的交道,可以说,他的生活与他的工作已经紧密相关,甚至他的雕刻创作早已不再是他的工作,而是他的终生兴趣。"说到底,我永远是个业余爱好者。"丁伟鸣在采访中多次说到这句话,这不仅是对他自己过往创作的一句总结,同时也是他个人对于创作的根本态度。
