江兆申,原台北故宫博物院副院长兼书画处处长。1925年8月出生在山明水秀地灵的安徽歙县。1950年投书溥心畲被录为弟子,1965年起就任台北故宫博物院。江兆申先生在职期间,一方面研究存世古画典籍,著书立说,在美术史研究上得到学术界的称许;另一方面沉湎在书画篆刻及诗文领域,独树一帜。他“以清人笔墨,运宋人丘壑”,喜作大幅山水,以泄思家国念故园之情。这位被誉为南渡台湾的三大家——张大千、溥心蓄、黄君璧之后的文人画家,当他1991年1月台北故宫博物院一卸职,即开始筹划他的大陆之行。

Jiang Zhaoshen was the former vice-director of the National Palace Museum of Taiwan and the director of the department of painting and calligraphy of the Museum.Born in August 1925 in the picturesque She Xian County of An Hui Province, he became a student of Pu Xinshe in 1950.Since 1965,he began to work in the National Palace Museum of Taiwan.During his work,on one hand,Mr.Jiang devoted himself to the study of existing ancient classic paintings,with his books and his research in the art history greatly admired in the academia.On the other hand,he was immersed in the calligraphy,painting,seal cutting and poems, developing a school of his own.With a combined application of the painting style adopted in the Qing Dynasty and Song Dynasty,he liked to draw the big- sized landscape painting so as to let off his yearning for the native land.When he retired in January 1991 from the Museum,Mr.Jiang,renowned as the last painting artist after Zhang Daqian,Pu Xinshe,and Huang Junbi,the three masters moving south to Taiwan,kicked off his planning of a trip to the China's Mainland.
