James Mitchell has twenty years of experiences in China.The reason he chose to be a diplomat at first was due to his interest in China.In his eyes,Shanghai is a vibrant and exciting city with diversified choices here.You can have endless choices if you browse the calendar of art in Shanghai. James Mitchell's major in the university was acting.Later,he naturally became a professional actor of modern drama,making performance in the modern city drama.In their college life,they once put the Fanshen(?)A Documentary of Revolution in a Chinese Village by William Hinton onto the stage in the rehearsal. This drama is about how a small village governed by the landlord for a tong time turns to a fairer and more democratic new village in the late 1940s.To Mitchell, this play is very interesting.Now he has a strong passion for his current job.In order to have a better knowledge about local culture as soon as possible,apart from taking active part in different cultural and art events,he earnestly visited the Mogan Mountain Cultural Belt.He happened to find that two Canadian artists set up their studio there,exchanging ideas with their local counterparts to improve both sides together.This blend of culture is really appreciated by him.According to him,his work is like the bridge linking the art and culture of China and Canada,through which,the cultural institutions and artists of both countries can build their friendship and seek for cooperation.
