何曦出现在公众面前的是一个从事水墨绘画的画家身份和形象．他低调地把他的照片视为“绘画之外另一个表达生活感受的媒介”．但在我这个旁观者看来,影像是他非常自觉关注留意的手段．他的摄影作品和他的绘画作品在某种意义上讲是重叠的、不可分割的．是他艺术创作一以贯之整体态度的体现。

He Xi is a water ink painter in the presence of the public.His vision of his pictures is pretty low-keyed,calling them“another media that expresses my taste of life other than painting”.However,it is to me,a looker-on,photography is an instrument he have been caring and putting great attention on.In a sense,his photographs and paintings are overlapping and indiscerptible—they both embody the on-lasting integrated attitude in his artistic creations. In an era like ours,it is a formidable mission to know the world.What block us are layer upon layer of realities that obstruct,shield and relate to each other,complex and wreathing truth,and visional lines of meaning.When an artist is trying to conquer the difficulties,his ego goes into a genuine,rich while ample existence—admittedly it is a home truth.It is true that He Xi started from regular professional training, however it is also obvious that he is never content of chanting the beauty of wind and moon;born in the north yet educated and grew up in the south;being a member of the system never baffles his vision of reflecting and observing the world.Exceeding the limits of medias, in the paradox and tension of tradition and current,the felicitous reflection is no other than the unique creation of a real Chinese artist.
