Howard Sherman is a member of the American school of radical political economics.He has long been committed to research on radical political economics,and has made remarkable achievements in comprehensive research on Marxism and institutionalism,post—Keynesianism and other areas.He has made outstanding contributions to the research on the methodology,the economic cycle,and the socialist theory.He has always adhered to the theoretical standpoint of Marxism to advocate the development of a unified political economics science.The science includes both the history—relationship analysis method,which is a non—dogmatic interdisciplinary analysis method that can be applied in most social—economic problems;and also specific theoretical research carried out by himself by using this method,which is mainly manifested in the“nut cracker”theory—a capitalist economic cycle theory reshaped by him,and his persistence and study of democratic socialism.With the nut cracker theory,Howard Sherman has used the method of combining theoretical analysis and empirical investigation to analyze the inherent unstable growth path of capitalism from the 1940s to the 1990s and build a critical capitalist theory'.On this basis,he has studied the society represented by the Soviet Union,and made unremitting explorations on the path of democratic socialist construction from the short-term,medium-term and long-term perspectives.
