This paper analyses the method of connecting MCS-51 single chip computer with 8255, which can be used to make a control of multiple extending I/O ports. With the conjunction of 89C51 and 8255, the cost of hardware can be cut down, resources of software be made full use of and also the price performance be improved. As one of the applied examples, the hardware block diagram and several practical software ones which belong to a control of 48 paths color lights are presented in the paper.
