Western mainstream and Marxian economists have a hard time trying to account for China’s economic practices using their theoretical frameworks.Modern economics needs a major revamp in many of its basic concepts such as market,wealth,knowledge,institution,and efficiency,before it could regain is explanatory power regarding the socialist economy with Chinese characteristics.It is imperative that we assimilate various schools of economic thought and construct a new economic paradigm in order to understand China’s rise and the West’s decline against a broader historical backdrop,and to better address economic challenges facing China and the rest of the world.
