In Memory of Professor Tan Chanxue

谭蝉雪先生是著名的敦煌民俗研究专家,在河西宝卷的收集整理研究、敦煌岁时节俗、敦煌服饰、敦煌婚姻、敦煌丧葬、敦煌饮食等诸多领域,都有杰出的贡献,部分领域有开启始先的功绩,在方法上是较早将文献和壁画图像相结合,以图证史、以文解图来研究民俗的学者之一。谭老师坚持真理,著述勤奋,为学认真细致,为人平易善良,乐于助人。她的去世,是敦煌学界的一大损失。

Mr.TAN Chanxue was a famous expert specialized in Dunhuang folk customs renowned for his outstanding contributions to many research fields such as the collection and research of Hexi Baojuan(Hexi Precious Scrolls)and the folk customs,apparel,marriage,funerals,and food and drinks of Dunhuang;his work in several of these areas is even considered pioneering in the history of Dunhuang studies.In research methodology,he was one of a group of recent scholars to study folk customs by combining historical texts in combination with mural images in order to more accurately verify the historical identities of both sets of artifacts.Mr.Tan held firmly to the truth and worked hard and was always amiable and ready to help others,his death is a great loss for the Dunhuang studies community.
