上海自清康熙二十四年(1685年)开海禁,沙船贸易又承袭元明以来的传统,很快复苏并发展。沙船业和沙船所进行的南北货物贸易是上海最主要的产业,是其他一切行业的源头,也是上海兴起和发展的最主要原因。

As Shanghai terminated the prohibition of foreign commercial trade exchanges in1685,large junks transportation trade recovered and developed rapidly,which was the most important industry in Shanghai,the source of other industries as well as the key element to the rise and growth of Shanghai.
