摘要
曹炳麟,崇明城内人。清光绪二十八年(1902)举人,科举中止后,经吏部选拔考试,拣选一等第一名,赴安徽省城任候补知县。辛亥革命爆发后,他回到家乡,担任县'总务课长'(后称总务科长)兼警务两职,辅助办理县政、实业。1915年担任县立中学校长,1919年总纂《崇明县志》。他一生致力于发展家乡教育文化事业。
Cao Binglin,a native of Chongming County,was a provincial candidate in the imperial examinations in 1902 and was selected an alternate Magistrate of Anhui Province when such examinations ended.After the Revolution of 1911 broke out,he returned home and assumed Head of General Affairs and also a police of the County,assisting in the County administration and industry.In 1915 he held the post of Headmaster of the County School and compiled Chongming County Annals in 1919,devoting himself to the development of the education and culture courses of his hometown.
