近代上海公园的城市广场功能

The City Square Functions of Modem Shanghai Parks

上海租界先后建有1 5座公园,其中公共租界10座,法租界5座。近代上海也有一批向公众开放的公用私园,其功能和公园相似,是上海居民休闲娱乐、集会的场所。由于近代上海没有专门的城市广场,公园公共空间便承载了城市广场的功能,如集会、军事操演和举办露天音乐会。

The foreign settlement in Shanghai once constructed fifteen parks successively,among which ten were in the International Settlement and the other five in the French Concession.Some private gardens opened to the public in modern Shanghai functioned similarly as parks,being recreation and gathering places for Shanghai citizens.As there were no specialized city square in modern Shanghai,parks took the advantage of its public space to bear the functions of city squares such as holding gatherings,military trainings and outdoor concerts.
