1886年上海格致书院借鉴传统书院考课制度,加以创新,形成了独特的格致书院考课型式。这种考课吸引了大量的知识分子投身其中,显著促进了西学知识在知识分子中的传播,起到了'启发近代新思潮'的重要作用,促进了洋务运动发展。
By learning traditional examination system,Shanghai Polytechnic Institution innovated a unique pattern of the examination in 1886,named Essay Contests.It attracted a large number of intellectuals,significantly contributing to the spread of Western knowledge among intellectuals,playing an important role of"inspiring modern thoughts"and promoting the development of the Westernization Movement.
