Born in the late Qing Dynasty, Sun Xuejian studied abroad in German since childhood and dedicated himself to the motherland when he returned, positively joining the antiJapanese War as a member of the Aviation Department of the National Government. After liberation, he settled down in Shanghai with excellent technical skills and switched to welding. Sun not only fostered numerous technical talents but also committed to technical innovation, living an ordinary life but meanwhile witnessing the development of the country. Today, his decedents have donated some of his legacies to Shanghai History Museum, which though common, reflect the spirit of innovation and dedication of the intellectuals of that era and also the little things during the development of New China.
