The article firstly gives a brief account of the Grotius life and his ira- mense erudition,then lay stress on analyzing his Mare Liberum and Jure Belli ae paeis Libri tri,especially his international ideas and related theories exposed in these books. Finally,the article brings to light major contributions of Grotius toward international law.
