摘要
本文运用胡塞尔的现象学的“意向性”建构理论 ,分析《喧哗与骚动》中人物之间的意念关系。小说中 ,凯蒂是不在场的 ,只是作为昆丁、班吉与杰生意识中的关联物 ,出现在他们的意念之中 ,成为这三位主体形象的他者 ,同时也是他们意识的镜像。叙述主体们建构了他们各自“同一”中的不同的凯蒂。凯蒂不是作为独立的个体 ,她的真实的生命 ,她的内心的需求是被忽略的。真实的凯蒂通过人物的意念是永远无法达到的。
Applying the phenomenological doctrine of intentionality to the researches of the mental relationship between the characters in The Sound and the Fury, this essay argues that Caddy appears only as a correlative in the minds of Quentin, Benjy and Jason, and therefore is actually absent, and also an other to all of them. Everyone among them constructs Caddy in his own 'identifications', but none of which, however, is what Caddy really is. Caddy, as an independent individual, her inner life and yearning are obscured and overlooked in such an intentional act.
