Causes of Millet Lodging and the Corresponding Prevention Measures in Nanyang Basin

倒伏是造成谷子减产的重要因素之一,严重影响了种植户的收入。南阳谷子倒伏发生的类型有根倒伏和茎倒伏,倒伏的原因主要在于栽培技术不合理和田间管理粗放等,预防措施有选用抗逆性强的品种、合理密植、科学施肥、加强田间管理、及时进行病害虫害防治等。

Plant lodging is one of the most important factors for the losses of millet grain yield, which has severely affected the income of farmers. Two types of millet lodging occur in Nanyang, comprising root lodging and stem lodging. They are mainly caused by inappropriate cultivation techniques, as well as inadequate and untimely field management. Accordingly, we put forward the following measures for prevention and control of lodging: selection of millet varieties with strong lodging resistance, determining suitable planting density based on the planting mode and the fertility of field soil, proper fertilization, strengthening field management, and timely control of diseases and pests.
