This article finds dozens of irreversible English binomials whose Chinese equivalents happen to be inverted in word order. Chinese students of English tend to neglect the inversion and therefore make mistakes in idiomatic usage when it comes to using the binomials. The author suggests, among others, the rule that the short precedes the long as a remedy.
