In A Dream of Red Mansions , a traditional Chinese masterpiece, a variety of characters are created; therefore, many an addressing term, which mostly reflects the use and complexity of the relationship between people in ancient Chinese culture, has laid an obstacle on translating it into English. This thesis tends to dwell on the translation of addressing terms from the following three aspects: context, different bodies of communication and cultural differences.
