As we have moved 2D seismic exploration to 3D, from conventional systems to distributed recording systems from IFP-based digitizers to the so-called 24-bit A/D converters some misconceptions and misun-derstandings about the recording systems have arisen from explorationists. As the result of the reasons above, explorationists have in some cases been slow to capitalize on new opportunities. These opportuni-ties are as a result of the capabilities of the modern recording systems and the fact that 3D exploration of-fers possibilities for more efficient exploration than 2D acquisition techniques. This translation addresses some of these misconceptions and misunderstandings.
