Innovative Construction Materials and Methods in the United States

摘要 本文介绍了一些美国环保建筑材料和建造方式发展前沿的创新者的研究成果和经验,包括普林尼·菲斯克(Pliny Fisk)的原材料实验,戴维·伊斯顿(David Easton)对夯土技术的现代化改革以及戴维·艾森伯格(David Eisenberg)为了创新性建筑材料和方式所作出的努力。本文同时介绍2家获奖的加州建筑公司Darrel DeBoer Architects和Leger/Wanaselja,在设计中富有创造性地使用材料的方法。文章最后探讨了我们目前所处的位置和未来的走向。 This article will introduce a few of the innovators at the forefront of the development of environmentally-conscious construction materials and methods in the United States. Including Pliny Fisk’s experimentation with raw materials, at David Easton’s modernization of rammed earth construction technology, and at David Eisenberg’s ongoing effort to create building standards and building codes that define what minimum acceptable levels of health and safety should look like for these new and re-vitalized building materials and construction methods. I will then briefly profile a few projects from two award-winning Northern Californian architecture firms, Darrel DeBoer Architects and Leger/Wanaselja, whose design aesthetics and creative use of materials express both Bay Area regional tastes and their own personal styles. Lastly, I will take a critical look at where we are and where we might be going next.
