ATTRIBUTES OF A SUSTAINABLE BUILTENVIRONMENT

This paper describes a sustainable built environment, framed as eleven kinds of attributes relating to the design, construction, operation, and disassembly of buildings, neighborhoods and cities, as well as Singapore context about these attributes. It is premised on scientific findings that make the case that buildings and settlements-directly or indirectly-impact our planet by consuming resources, emitting waste, and displacing natural habitats. The attributes listed in this paper describe a global consensus on how a sustainable built environment should behave in a world of limited resources.
