After analyzing the structure、classifications and characteristics of AVI video format,the characteristics of multimedia video is con-sidered,the application of AVI in multimedia technology is discussed.AVI is a file format with the combination of voice and video syn-chornization and a cross-coding RIFF file of the video data and audio data.which are used for audio and video capture,edit,play,etc.,the file name suffix.Avi.The application of AVI in multimedia technology is mainly used to save the TV,film and other image information.
