对方平先生译《理查三世》中一段独自的商榷

Comments on Mr Fang Ping's Latest Chinese Translated Text of a Soliloquy of the Life and Death of Richard Ⅲ by W.Shakespeare

本文针对莎士比亚诗剧《理查三世》(The Life and Death of Richard Ⅲ)中一段独自的方平先生的汉译提出批评。由于对原文的质朴简洁缺乏认识以及没能正确使用本国语言,译者使用了不少不符合汉语习惯用法的冗词赘语,以致无法传达出原文优美的语言特征。作者在此提出一种新的翻译莎翁诗剧的方法,即以一个汉字译一个英语音节,并极力做到在语句结构上和深层意义上贴近原文,以确保莎士比亚作品的丰姿艳采。

This paper gives comments on Mr.Fang Ping’s Chinese translated text of a soliloquy of the Life and Death of Richard Ⅲ by W.Shakespeare.For want of the understanding of Shakespeare’s brevity and being unable to use his native language correctly,Mr.Fang Ping loses himself in verbiage which does not tally with the Chinese usage,so that he fails to convey the simple and graceful language characteristic of the original.Here the author proposes a new translation method d Shakespeare’ s drama in verse,that is,one English syllable is changed into one Chinese character with only one syllable.At the same time he does his best to keep up correspondence between the Chinese version and the original both in the structure of sentences and in the meaning of words so as to ensure the reappearance of Shakespeare’s rich and bright colors.
