摘要
1985年颁布的《大学英语教学大纲》确定专业英语阅读阶段的教学目的在于培养学生的专业英语阅读能力。但随着改革开放和进入世界贸易组织以后,我国学生的英语学习需求已发生了较大的变化。因此,《大学英语教学大纲(修订本)》已将专业阅读改为专业英语(Subject-Based English 简称 SBE)。其教学的目的是全面培养学生读、听、说、写、译的综合能力。目前旧的专业英语课程设计,特别是教材设计急需改革。以大量的问卷调查和访谈以及相关的 ESP 理论为依据,本文提出了一个以专业知识为教材内容,以培养综合技能为主的教材编写模式。
College English Syllabus of 1985 defined Specialty Reading Stage as to develop students'reading ability in the fields of specialization.But students'learning needs have witnessed great changes with China's accelerated opening up to the outside,especially with China's entry to WTO.To meet the challenge of the rapid growing of international academic exchanges,the skills of listening,speaking,writing and translating also deserve mastery.The Revised Version of College English Syllabus of 1999 has thus renamed Specialty Reading stage as Application and Advanced stage.To keep pace with this change,an adequate course design for SBE,especially the design of new materials is now in urgent need.This paper, therefore,attempts to set up a skills-oriented and content-based model for SBE materials design based on both the evaluation of recent SBE materials at home and abroad,and the relevant theories in ESP.
