A Comparative Study of English and Chinese Metaphors/Similes and Their Translation

作为一种重要的修辞手法,英汉比喻间存在明显的异同之处。本文从跨文化交际的角度,通过对英汉比喻的基本要素及异同进行简要分析,以再现原比喻形象的精神为指导,提出英汉互译中比喻的多种翻译方法。

There are obvious similarities and differences between English and Chinese metaphors/similes.This article analyses the basic elements of English and Chinese metaphors/similes as well as their similarities and difference from a cross- cultural perspective,and with the principle of reproduction of original image,proposes several methods for translation of metaphors/similes.
