Short story Egg is one of the masterpieces written by the renowned American novelist Sherwood Anderson. The story greatly exposes the deceptive nature and destructive impact of American Dream, and shows great sympathy for people stuck in it.In this article, famous American critic Wayne C.Booth's theory on point of view is applied to the analysis of the narrator's voice in this story. The analysis indicates that there are two more voices hidden in the voice of the narrator, that of the narrator as a child and that of the implicit author.Exploiting the trinity,in the voice of the story narrator,Anderson succeeds in developing the story from a more objective and overall angle, presenting a more comprehensive picture to the reader, and narrowing the gap between the reader and the characters. The story thus achieves greater impact on the reader, and evokes his deep meditation on life.
