Integration of the Word Structural Patterns

本文从英语词汇成分的聚合关系和组合关系两个维度、历时和共时两个视角,讨论了英语词汇在其发展和壮大的过程中,词汇成分在句法、语义、语音或因言语中的上下文位置等方面所构成的关联词群成分结构方式趋于整化的现象。笔者认为:英语中各种关联词群成分词式的整化可概以类比来做出解释;对英语词结构方式整化的研究从一个侧面有助于解释人们迅速习得语言词汇的缘由,对英语教学有积极意义。

This essay presents,in both the paradigmatic and syntagmatic dimensions and from both the diachronic and synchronic perspectives,a discussion of the integration of the word structural patterns of the members of a syntactically, semantically,phonetically or contextually associated lexical set.The author argues that an overall explanation of the integration of the word structural patterns of the members of various associated lexical sets can be reached solely by analogy, and that investigations on the integration of word structural patterns in English will in a sense help to explain the accomplishment of a fast acquisition of the vocabulary of the language and are of positive significance to the teaching and learning of English.
