《红字》是部多元主体的作品.自问世以来广受文学评论家和读者的关注。其女主人翁海斯特·白兰更是备受评论家喜爱,无论是评论海斯特·白兰这个人物还是通过这个人物分析整部作品的文章都不胜枚举。本文试从三方面比较狄姆斯代尔和珠儿父女这两个受到较少关注的人物的相似点出发,分析超验主义思想在《红字》中的体现。同时可以看到霍桑又与爱默生、梭罗的超验主义世界观有所不同.

Scarlet Letter,the masterpiece ofNathaniel Howthorne,is criticized and focused by critics and readers for many years both in china and abroad.Some of them focus on the Puritanism in that society described in this work.Some study it from the aspect of feminism.The others study it from the author's life, etc.Different critics or readers have various ideas and conclusions about the work.Most of them have notieed the sharp contrast between Hester Prynne and Pearl,but the relationship between Dimmesdale and Pearl.The author of this paper tries to explore the similarity between the father and daughter and find the transcendental thoughts in it.From the analysis we can see the influence of transcendentalism on Hawthorne.
