摘要
本研究通过自行设计的问卷,采用单因素、3X2双因素方差分析法分别调查因变量语言水平与自变量歧义容忍度、因变量语言水平与因素变量歧义容忍度、专业的差异。调查结果显示歧义容忍度与专业没有显著交互作用,但是两个因素变量的主效应在显著水平为0.05时对语言水平的解释量为15.4%。具体表现在,语言水平高的学生,歧义容忍度也高,理科生的语言水平高于文科生。中、高容忍组学生的语言水平显著地高于低容忍组学生,但是,只有加入专业变量后,高容忍组学生的语言水平才显著地高于中容忍组学生。在比较中、高容忍两组不同专业学生的歧义容忍度与语言水平后发现两者的关系方向因为专业的不同而不同。此结果表明,在研究歧义容忍度与语言水平关系时,专业是一个重要的参考变量。从课堂教学来说,对歧义现象容忍程度不同、英语水平不同的学生,教师可以将课堂活动的难易度进行适当搭配;对歧义现象容忍程度类似但不同专业的学生,教师在强调语言的准确性和流利性方面,可以做适当的调整。
By applying the Chinese tolerance of ambiguity scales in English learning situations and One-and two-way ANOVA,the author investigates the differences among language proficiency,tolerance of ambiguity and major and finds there is no significant interactive effect between tolerance of ambiguity and major on language proficiency but the main effect of them could explain the language proficiency variance accounted for 15.4%at the 0.05 level.Specifically,the better the learners' language proficiency is,the more they are tolerant.As a whole,science students' language proficiency is higher than the arts students'.Moreover, language proficiency of the middle and the high tolerant groups is significantly higher than that of the low group.However,compared the middle with the high tolerant groups,the significantly higher language proficiency exists only when major is considered and the direction of the relationship between tolerance of ambiguity and language proficiency varies according to the different major.This research also suggests that major is an important variable when the relationship between the tolerance of ambiguity and language proficiency is studied.In the class teaching,teachers can appropriately arrange activities according to the task difficulty when students' tolerance of ambiguity and language proficiency are different.But teachers may adjust whether to emphasize the importance of language accuacy or to emphasize the importance of languge flurency when student's tolerance of ambiguity is similar but not their majors.
