摘要
作者论述了梅花的优点及其品种类型的人工演进;评述了他1962年的“中国梅花品种主要类型检索表”,提出一个修订过的中国梅花品种分类新系统。然后就近二年(1979,1980)在武汉、南京、北京三地所记载的71个梅花品种,各列其“雅名”(中英对照),纳入分类新系统中。在这一新系统内,除考虑种间杂种的性状表现外(如杏梅类),基本采用枝条姿态为第一级分类标准,以花型(包括重瓣性)为二级标准,花色(及萼色)为第三级。新系统以品种人工演进为主要依据,参照若干育种与形态表现,又已通过实践而发现并改正了原有缺点,其科学性远胜国内一般梅花品种分类体系,也比日本等外国的梅花分类系统更为先进。
The Mei flower (Prunus mume Sieb.et Zucc.) is mich admired by the Chi-nese people for its grace, beauty and fragrance,for its early and long flowering sea-son, its abundarce of cultivars, the ease with which it is cultivated and its multipleuses. Ten reasons are listed for its superiorities as compared with other ornamentalplants. The classification system of Chinese Mei flower cultivars as suggested by the au-thor in 1962 is here revised.In the revised system,four groups of cultivars are rcco-gnized,namely, UFRIGHT MEI GROUP,PENDULOUS MEI GROUP,TORTUOUSDRAGON GROUP, and APRICOT MEI GROUP.The Upright Mei Group 13 subdi-vided into six forms (SINGLE FLOWERED FORM,PINK DOUBIE FORM, A[BO-PLENA FORM,VERSICOLOR FORM,GREEN CALYX FORM and CINNABARPURPLE FORM), and the Pendulous Alei Group info six forms (SIMPIEX PEN-DANT FORM, MODESTA PENDANT FORM,ALBIFLORA PENDANT FORM,MARMORATA PENDANT, FORM, VIRIDIFLORA FENDANT FORM,and ATRO-PURPUREA PENDANT FORM) respectively. The oastanding feature of the system suggested by the writer in this paper isthat,contrary to tradition, growth Labit of branches and brarchle's as distinguishedby their behavior is taken as the primay criterion for classification.Furthermore,flower type (often including degree of flower doubleness) is taken as the secondarycriterion,The tertiary critfrion is the color of corolla and calyx.Seventy one Mei flower cultivars found in Beijing, Wuhan and Nanjing during1979 and 1980 have been classified according to the revised system, and their Chineseand Anglish 'fancy names'are listed.
