湖南山丘区域由于其独特的地理位置和优越的自然条件，具有较高水平的生物多样性，其生物物种丰富，生态系统复杂，景观组合独特．然而，随着人口增长和社会经济发展，湖南山丘区生物多样性受到日趋严重的威胁，经济建设中的不合理举措、旅游业的盲目发展以及自然灾害事件成为破坏湖南山丘区生物多样性的主要因素．

There is a high biodiversity in mountain and hill areas of Hunan province due to their pedicular location and advantageous nature conditions, in which has rich species, complicated ecosystem and special landscape complex. However, biokiversity will face more serious dangers along with the Population growth and economic development. The main factors that destroy biodiversity in mountain and hill area of Hunan province include irrational economic activities, unchecked development of tourism and natural catastrophe incidents.
