This paper gives a rethinking on the definition and domains of ESP,elaborates on the background and necessities of its teaching in China,and discusses ESP curriculum design and the training of ESP teachers.ESP teaching reflects the practicability feature of College English,and is one of the best ways to help students practise English in the academic exchange and learning.Universities should encourage English teachers to participate actively in College English teaching reform according to the needs of students.
