摘要
陈寅恪与傅斯年关系密切,且都十分重视史料,以考实为治史方法前提。学术界一般将陈寅恪视作“史料学派”,与傅斯年归为同类。其实,史学有其“史心”,陈寅恪与傅斯年方法相类,而治史精神大相径庭。傅斯年紧随胡适,将胡的“实证”史学精神臻于极致。胡适不赞同“民族主义”史学的提法,某种意义上也影响傅,而陈寅恪昌言民族本位,其终身史学行走,乃胡适、傅斯年史料学派之别途。他走出了史料学派。陈寅恪既是一个热望人格尊严独立的自由者,又是一个强求历史更新再造的传统人,以勇猛的精神一身而兼双任。他不是旧模样的“中体西用”者,而是别具现代性的“新体西用”者。
Chen Yinge was very close to Fu Sinia n.Both of them paid great a ttention t o historic data,based on textual criticism.Chen is g enerally regar ded as one of the School of Historical Data,like Fu.As a matter of fact,hist oriography has i ts academic spirits of various kinds.Following Hu Shi,Fu impr oved Hu ' s textual criticism to the utmost.Hu dis not approve of the proposit ion of'nationalism',which influenced Fu to some degree.But Chen put forward nationalism,which diverged the School of Historical Data,advo-cated by Hu Shi and Fu Sinian.He was ou t from that school.He was,on one hand,a liberal asp iring after the independence of human dignity,o n the other hand,a man of trad ition re quiring that the history be reju-venated.
