杨国翰与浙江

Yang Guohan and Zhejiang

云南云州(今云县)人杨国翰与浙江有不解之缘。道光元年(1821年)至道光十二年(1832年),先后在奉化、诸暨、海盐、仁和、玉环等地为官,勤政为民、政绩卓著。他在奉化时与林则徐的书信往来,触及了吸食鸦片这一当时社会问题,是林则徐最早进行禁烟活动的文字记载。

Born in Yunzhou (now it is called Yunxian County) in Yunnan Province, Yang Guohan formed an indissoluble bondwith various places in Zhejiang Province. He was in office in Fenghua, Zhuji, Haiyan, Renhe, Yuhuang and other places inZhejiang from the first year of Daoguang Period, namely 1821 to the twelfth year of Daoguang Period. He was diligentlydevoted to his job and to serving the local people and hence he achieved a lot. When he was in office in Fenghua, Lin Zexuand he regularly wrote to each other, discussing in their letters the issues on opium - smoking, which was a social problem atthat time and those letters were the earliest notes in regard to No Opium Smoking Activity proposed by Lin Zexu.
