Oedipus the King discusses a family moral problem,but the theme is expressed in a metaphysical way-a deep pondering of fate and life.The Ghost of the Pot originates from a metaphysical story——Yang Guoyong,the protagonist,is doomed to death in a hundred days,but the play pays more attention to the improvement of human morals.The protagonist of Oedipus the King is a hero,regarded as a model,while Yang Guoyong,the protagonist of the Ghost of the Pot,is a common person,representing a sadness of the common people.Oedipus the King,adopting the structure in which the story is penetrated by tragedy from beginning to end,displays a solemn atmosphere,which brings readers a lofty feeling.The Ghost of the Pot,on the other hand,revolves around the idea 'good will be rewarded with good,and evil with evil' and pursues a happy ending.
