The comparison of canopy photosynthesis characteristics between YD22 and SC704 shows that the changes of canopy photosynthetic rate in YD22 and SC704 at various time of day generally varied according to a single peak,the peak shows up about 12:00～14:00 .The peak value of YD22 is higher than that of SC704,and the photosynthetic active duration of YD22 is a little longer than that of SC704;the CAP(canopy apparent photosynthesis ) changes of the two maize species 's whole life indicate that both species have little difference in the early period ,the peaks turn up around the bloom period,but the SC704's declines rapidly in the later period.
