南水北调工程调水规模根据受水区的缺水量,可能的、技术经济合理的调水量以及考虑到各省市要求的调水量情况,进行调水量配置。水资源合理配置要统筹兼顾南方调水区与北方受水区的利益,全面发挥水资源的经济、社会和环境效益。

The diversion scale of the South-to-North Water Transfer Project has to take into consideration the water volume needed in the beneficial areas, feasible, economically and technically reasonable water volume diverted and water demands of provinces. Rational water resources distribution has to coordinate and incorporate benefits of diverting area in the south and diverted area in the north at the same time to fulfill in full extent benefits of water resources in terms of economy, society and environment.
