摘要
According to the joint notice declared by 10 government departments including the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the National Development and Reform Commission,China will ban the production, circulation, use and import & export of dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT), chlordane, mirex and hexachlorobenzene. Government agencies atall levels will strengthen their supervision of these four persistent organic pollutants(POPs). DDT production and use in emergency for vectors control should be approvedby the relevant departments first.DDT, chlordane, mirex and hexachlorobenzene are POPs ruled to be eliminated withina specified period of time according to the Stockholm Convention on POPs. At present,DDT in China is mainly used in emergency vectors control and production of dicofol andanti-fouling paint, while chlordane and mirex is used in termite control, andhexachlorobenzene in PCP-Na production.
