语言是一个符号系统 ,它是人类思维的载体。学习语言的首要目的是为了交流思想(Communication) ,而文化的传播需要书面语言做载体 ,这就需要学生提高阅读能力。本文力图通过对英语阅读理解的内涵及技巧的介绍即 :重视对词汇和语法的训练 ,重视选材 ,重视培养学生的应试技巧和重视培养学生的语感 ,以及通过对当前大学生英语阅读水平现状的分析 ,提出了提高大学生英语阅读水平的方法 ,目的是使更多的大学生能够学有所成 ,进步更快。

Language is a symbolic system and a medium of human communication.The primary purpose of learning language is to communicate,moreover,the transmission of culture needs written language.So it is necessary for college students to improve their English reading comprehension.The article focuses on the connotations of English reading comprehension and reading skills:more practice on vocabulary and grammar;the selection of reading materials;the cultivation of examination skills on reading;the establishment of the sense of language.It puts forward the ways to improve English reading comprehension in order to give the college students more help by analysing the English level of reading
