Kafka is a Jewish writer with strong religious consciousness. We can't understand Kafka's novels if we neglect the religious meaning he has expressed in his writings. The myth of Eden had a great influence on Kafka. His novels reflect on the fate of humankind after Adam and Hawaii have been driven out of the Park of Eden. It may be proved by the error what the characters have made, the sense of sin and the punishment of exile or death. The relationship between God and humankind was always the focal issue that Kafka pondered over. There is a gulf between God and humankind. So Kafka insisted people should individuate their religious beliefs. It was the road of redemption to God. Writing is the Tree of Life for Kafka.
