Since China established diplomatic relations with America on January 1,1979,the bilateraleconomictrade had made considerable progress. The cooperation made by two sides has played a significant role in the economic development of two countries,in which the shoe trade has made re markable achievement. This article shows by figures of export shoes to America provided by China′s Customs and American Com mercial Affairs Ministry Statistics Bureau,thatthe shoe trade oc cupies an obvious position in the sino - U.S. trade . America is the biggest consumption country of shoes as well as the biggest market of Chinese export shoes.China shoe production has apparent advantage on prize、produc tion techology and quality . The report of World Bank of 1994 pointed outthe American consumersshould augment 14 billion dollarsexpenses annually iftheyimportthesame goods from countries other than China. This shows that sino- U.S.shoetrade has broad prospects.
