Dr. Hou Debang——Master of Science and Technology, Famous Expert in Chemical Engineering

侯德榜博士是我国化学工业的开拓者 ,世界制碱工业权威。侯博士从青少年时期就刻苦学习 ,树立起“科学救国”和“工业救国”的远大抱负。他留学美国 8年 ,获学士、硕士和博士学位。为了实现振兴民族工业、富国强民的大志 ,他抛弃了国外的优越条件 ,毅然回国 ,献身于祖国的化学工业 ,为世界纯碱工业和我国化肥工业的发展作出了卓越贡献。他的《纯碱制造》一书的出版 ,揭示了苏尔维制碱法封锁达 70年之久的秘密 ,使之成为全人类的共同财富 ;他发明的“侯氏碱法” 。

Dr.Hou Debang is a forerunner of Chemical Industry of our country and one of the famous scientists in the field of Soda producing in the world. From his childhood, he studied very hard with hope of “asssisting the homeland with science and industry”. To implement his hope of developing the national industry,he came back from abroad and contributed himself to the chemical industry of China. He revealed the 70year secret of the E.Solvay’s soda producing in his book Manufacture of Soda . And his invention “Hou’s Procress” has been regarded as a milestone in the world Soda-producing history.
